It is our pleasure to share with you spirituals from performed by Ms. Zoe Beaton.
Zoe Beaton is a music education major attending Westminster Choir College. She is also an active collegiate member of organizations such as NAFME ( National Association For Music Educators), ACDA ( American Chorak Directors Association), and NJMEA( New Jersey Music Education Association). While she pursues her career in music education, she actively seeks out other ways to express her musicality such as performing during Sunday services in her home town. Since coming to New Jersey, she pursued employment and fortunately found position with the Sons and Daughters of the United States Middle Passage. After learning of Zoe’s passion for music, Dr. McDowell introduced her a book a slave songs published in 1867. Since then, she has been recording music within Slave Songs of the United States, grateful for the opportunity to express herself through music and connect to her ancestors.
